The Festa do Marisco is deeply rooted in the identity of O Grove, a seafaring town in the Rías Baixas. Since 1963 it has stood out not only for its food but also as a symbol of the historic bond between local people and the sea. Fishing and shellfishing go back generations here and are still among the area’s most important economic and cultural drivers.

Every morning, shellfish gatherers begin their working day with traditional tools. Their work, carried out in harmony with nature, keeps resources sustainable and preserves techniques handed down from generation to generation. During the Festa do Marisco, this effort is shared with visitors, who can get a close look at the way of life of the local seafaring communities.

Over more than 60 years, the festival has added exhibitions, traditional music and activities for all ages, which celebrate not only seafood as the star product but also the customs and values of the community. This blend of tradition, culture and food makes the Festa do Marisco a unique experience, known well beyond Galicia.
