Our Setting: The Heart of the Rías Baixas
The Shellfish Festival wouldn't be the same without the magical place where it's held: the Grove peninsula. Surrounded by the waters of the Ría de Arousa and the Atlantic Ocean, our seaside town offers an incomparable setting that turns your visit into an experience that goes far beyond gastronomy.
While you enjoy the finest produce from our sea, we invite you to discover the landscape that makes it all possible:
The Ría de Arousa: Our great treasure. A tranquil, life-filled ria, dotted with traditional oyster beds. Here, the fishing and shellfish-fishing tradition can be felt in every corner, from the fish market to the hustle and bustle of the harbour.
Beaches and Wild Nature: The Grove is synonymous with pure nature. From the endless sands of Praia da Lanzada, a paradise for sea lovers and water sports enthusiasts, to the small, hidden coves of San Vicente do Mar. If you're looking for spectacular views, the Paseo de Pedras Negras is the perfect route to watch the sea crash against the rocks and enjoy an unforgettable sunset.
The Island of A Toxa: Just a stone's throw from the festival grounds, across the iconic bridge, lies this oasis of relaxation and nature. A place famous for its thermal waters, its distinctive hermitage covered in scallop shells, and its beautiful pine forests where you can take a peaceful stroll.
The Siradella Lookout: The highest point on the peninsula. A must-visit spot to take in a spectacular panoramic view of the Lanzada Isthmus, the Atlantic islands and the vastness of the ria.
Enjoying the Seafood Festival is also about getting lost in our streets, breathing in the sea breeze and falling in love with the magic of the Rías Baixas. The best taste of the sea in the best possible setting. Come for the palate and stay for the scenery!
