The dornas races took centre stage during this first weekend of the Seafood Festival, bringing together boats from various parts of the estuary.
Yesterday, Saturday, the Seafood Festival’s ‘sailing’ dornas regatta took place, featuring eighteen boats from A Illa de Arousa, Cambados, Ribeira, Muros and O Grove itself. Amongst others, the Dorneiros Regateiros, A Torre, the Clube Mariño Salnés and ACD Dorna took part in the race. The good weather conditions in the afternoon allowed the regatta to go ahead, on a day when the dornas sailed through the waters of the estuary and the value of this traditional vessel was once again highlighted.
Today, Sunday, saw the Desafío Arousa take centre stage, with the ‘rowed’ dorna regatta as part of the Seafood Festival, organised by the Amigos da Dorna Meca. The competition brought together boats from Cambados, A Illa de Arousa and O Grove. Victory on this second day went to the team from Cambados, who came out on top in the rowing challenge.
These two days once again made the dornas one of the highlights of the Seafood Festival programme.
