Craft and gift stalls at the Festa do Marisco
05/10/2026 — 0 Comments
This year’s 63rd edition of the Festa do Marisco features two marquees offering additional attractions on the festival grounds, alongside the concert area, which is now a permanent fixture. One is the craft marquee, run once again this year by the shell jewellery maker Montse Betanzos, featuring a wide range of items – mainly necklaces – made from seashells. Betanzos continues to promote this ancient craft from O Grove, which boasts two hundred years of history. The jewellery maker is reinventing this legacy by blending tradition with modernity. In doing so, she is helping to further promote the craft through a major showcase such as this gastronomic event.
Next to it, on the other side of the statue of the shellfish-gathering family, is this year’s gift marquee – a space that had stood empty for over three years and which is being managed for the first time by the Grovemakers creators’ association. Here, visitors to the event will find products promoting the festival as well as the creators’ own pieces, designed and printed by themselves. It is a space with a distinct artisanal feel, featuring references to elements and landscapes from both O Grove and Galicia. Their range extends from textiles to illustrations – framed or unframed – as well as mugs and various accessories for home décor or fashion. It is a great opportunity to discover some of the local talent on offer. On this occasion, four members are taking part, out of the nine who make up the organisation.
